The Massochist In Me

Have you ever called Mike Tyson a wuss? Have you ever said something insulting about Clark Kent while Superman was standing behind you? Have you ever been paid to be a speed bump at the Hummer test track?

If you've answered yes to any of these questions, you know how I'm feeling today.

Blog, meet Josh.

Josh is my trainer.

Josh enjoys inflicting pain.

In fact, I'm pretty sure that Josh sits back and night with a notebook and a pencil and thinks of different ways to make me regret ever TOUCHING a cheeseburger.

So, tonight was my workout with Josh. Skinny guy, spiked hair, bright red Bally's shirt. And ask me what he did tonight.

He put me in boxing gloves, had me doing high speed squats, sidestepping back and forth, and throwing punches at full speed.

I'm still alive. Of course, if I had to change a lightbulb, signal a touchdown, or do the YMCA dance, it ain't happening. I can barely lift my arms. Chest lifts, curls, squats, you name it, I did it tonight. And you know what? I pay for this. And you know what's even crazier for that?

It's the best damn workout I've had in ages. It'll also be the best damn sleep tonight that I've had in ages.

So, Josh... I know you're reading this, as I gave you the blog address tonight. Plan another workout like this next week, and kick my ass again.

You want 10?

I'll give you 12.

Speaking of numbers, notice the blog title. Dropped another pound since Saturday, and it's only Tuesday. I know that I said I was only going to weigh in every Saturday.. but, it's my blog. I'm allowed to lie.

Keep posting comments, folks. Send this to your friends, show this to your co-worker, send a link to your gym teacher, it doesn't matter. This is a shameless attempt to get more viewers, get a bunch of you motivated, and keep me doing this.

Down another pound, plenty more where that came from.

Nice work Rob. I love creating workouts like that also to see people work their ass off and think how hard they worked.

Josh.. having you posting on this blog is invaluable to me. The trail mix I have to get, that'll help a ton with the afternoon drag-ass.

And to anyone else who is reading this, Josh is a freaking genius when it comes to this stuff. Ask away, he knows what he's talking about.

BTW, who is Steve? Thanks for posting, hope you stick around :)

See if you can figure it out...

You should post some of your thoughts while your working out. I bet you think of some interesting stuff.

Well, tonight I was thinking "that son of a bitch is crazy".

I'll probably blog about that soon, that's a good topic to cover. It's all about mental determination, I think.

That, and prayer.

Damn dude, I could use a Josh...but not a nice one. I found myself really motivated when my h.s. coach would yell at me and call me a vagina and told me I ran like a girl...I never hit so hard in my life.

Anyways, I'll be checking out the calorieking thing he put here. Never paid attention to cals, just tried to look at fat. I'm seeing that didn't work out too well :( Speak of which, I just polished off a chicken nugget meal from Mickey-D's...maybe I should pack around the trail mix too, I needed something quick and cheap and now I'm feeling guilty...I was doin' well too, saw I lost 5 lbs. within the last couple weeks (being sick helps) and worked my ass off for an hour at the gym.

BTW, how'd this thing know my name? That's creepy stuff man...any way, good luck, I'll be watching!

Fats are great to watch because they have a lot of calories in them, but some fats,(unsaturated actually help you lose weight, lower blood pressure, and help your arteries to stay flexible by lowering cholestoral. its funny the "hard ass" coach thing was mentioned. i used to run bootcamps where i got to yell, curse and everything else. the guys always had it the worst because they were the minority. and those trail mix or peanut tubes are filling and full of healthy fats. keep up the good work, playboy.

Hey Rob....sounds like you're still hangin in there! Josh sounds like a hell of a trainer! Glad you have him! Now, if I had the cash and those extra hours each day like you mentioned, I would have to think about hitting him up too!! Oh well...guess I'll keep plugging away at it here the way I've been doing. I've got you for inspiration, so that's a bonus!!
You mentioned prayer, too...it works buddy! Got a whole program going here that proves it!!! Don't know how deep you get in that though, so I won't push it. Let me know if you're ever interested.
Keep it up, congrats on another pound gone!!!
Oh, and Josh? Kick his ass! He'll thank you later! :)

Josh-

I'm too poor for a trainer, so would you mind moving to Colorado and training me for free?

It's only fair, since I'm the one who got Rob moving on this.

:-)

Kick his ass.

well, i'm not moving to colorado anytime soon, but my sister lives there and i'm training her through emails, etc. and i would be more than happy to help in anyway i can. i know trainers can be high cost, but for most of us, if you can get a friend or so together, it will cut the cost dramatically. and for those of you living anywhere near me, you might be surprised what i can work out. my biggest downfall in training is the sales aspect, but i'm damn good at the part that really counts. and nobody worry, i will be kicking Rob's ass on the regular. he is a great client and i know how determined he is. the best way to keep motivated is to keep it fun and i totally have that covered. much love to everybody, be fit and be happy.

Great job Rob. Another pound lost. It's great you have a trainer now, now you know you're gonna lose pounds for sure.
