The First Big Jump
Remember how frustrated I was two days ago, on Sunday?
Today's Tuesday, and I was in the gym this morning, and I struggled with my workout. On my non-"Josh The Destroyer" days, I do 30 minutes of hard cardio, usually on the Elyptical Machine, which is the exercise equivalent of hell. I'm not exaggerating. It's like being sent to Hades. Fire and brimstone. Home of Timothy McVeigh, Adolf Hitler and the Yellow Wiggles Character.
So, remember how I said that I'll only weigh myself on Saturdays? Remember how I lied last week, and weighed myself on Tuesday?
Lied again.
Good news this time. Down *FOUR* pounds in 2 days.
What' s that tell me?
It tells me that I'm in the right direction. It also reminds me that the body fluxuates, but I'm on the right path. It also tells me that these morning workouts are starting to pay off.
One thing I've been doing lately is starting to eat ONLY when hungry, and not relying on the clock to eat. Example? I usually wake up, eat breakfast the moment I wake up, and then I'm hungry again by 9am. For the last few days, if I'm not hungry when I wake up, then I just don't eat. When I start feeling hungry, that's when I eat. Then, I eat small and slow. Just enough to fill up, and not because I feel I'm 'owed' a meal.
For instance, it's 11am. I went to the gym, and didn't even think about eating breakfast. I was too rushed, and just ran out the door. I started to get a bit hungry on the way from school to work, so I reached into my lunchbox and grabbed my little pineapple serving and chugged it down. I feel fine now.
I'm not sure if 'skipping' meals is good, but I don't see the point in eating when I'm not hungry. I understand the concept of 5-6 meals a day, but my problem is that in the past, those weren't a meal of 1 snack bar, or an apple, or a carrot. Those were 5-6 MEALS. Big Macs. Whoppers. Pizzas.
If I'm hungry, I'll eat. If not, I won't. It's such a simple concept, I'm probably doing it wrong.
Have I mentioned I was down 4 pounds from Sunday?

So, how much weight did you lose since Sunday? I don't think you mentioned it.
Great job, Bang. That's an awesome feeling, isn't it? I hate the scale, but once in a while, it comes through and kicks you into gear - just when you need it.
Good work, and keep it up.
We still have a long way to go.
Also, eating breakfast kick-starts your metabolism. Hungry or not, it's like fuel for your body. I HATE eating breakfast, but I've taken to eating 1 cup of Fiber One Honey Cluster cereal in the morning, with 1 cup of 1% milk.
It's helped a lot.
Just my 2 cents.
hey there hows it going? Its great you have lost 4 pounds but guess what? You still have a long way to go. As for the eating breakfast i would get some of those cerel bars or something like that and take with you to the gym and you can eat it if you get hungry after your workout. However stop slacking on weighing yourself and get moving and get it done your not get any younger you know. LOL
LOL, fair enough.
You know, I'm starting to realize how good carrots are just to munch on. They're like ghetto Snickers bars. So far, so good.
Good job so far Rob - I really enjoy reading the blog updates - I know it's a struggle- especially with everything else you have going on lately - but you're sticking to it and making great progress.
If you cna make it through the Christmas season with all the good food and drinks out there all the time tempting you, you'll be "home free" come January.
Keep up the great work!
Tom
AWESOME!! I bet that feels fabulous!
Keep it up, now you see what it can do for you!

Be careful about not eating though. If you don't get nutrition and/or water, you get headaches, or so my personal experience tells me. I actually don't feel hunger pains, so I eat because I owe myself a meal or because I want to enjoy the food. When i go without lunch, because work's been busy, I tend to feel it later on in the form of a headache.
I'm just saying don't get so caught up in the 'food is bad' mentality that you forget to take care of yourself. Food is good - just watch what you eat, when you eat it, what you do after you eat.

oh, and you're REALLY in the ghetto if you're making an analogy between carrots and snickers bars. lol, props for digging the healthy food, but those orange things aint no snickers, G.
Thats awesome Tuck. Keep it up. LMAO at carrots being ghetto Snicker bars btw
It's 10:30 and I just walked in the door, long day. Had a bowl of cereal, and I'm headed to bed. Who wants to guess if I'm going to make the gym in 7 1/2 hours?
First off, that's so awesome that you saw those pounds come off! I had a hunch. Keep making those healthy food choices. But just like everyone has already said, you have to get some kind of breakfast, even if its just a drink of piece of fruit. This is the metabolism kick start that makes you burn more calories. Harvard studies show eating breakfast can burn up to 30% more calories a day. You may notice you feel hungrier on days when you do eat breakfast...that's your metabolism. As long as you keep eating carrots for snickers, we'll have no problems. Your metabolism is like a fire, it burns hotter and more material when it gets a little bit at a time, frequently. In the long term, and short term this is gonna make the pounds drop so much easier. Keep rollin', champ. You are kickin' ass. Much love.
Awesome Rob! It'll happen...you're seeing it now. Glad you didn't let the added pound before get you down.
But....DON'T SKIP BREAKFAST!! I know, I know, you've heard it already, but what kind of friend would I be if I didn't take a moment to tell you how bad that would be and how it could mess with your goal? Keep it up, buddy!
