One Up.

Ok, a bit frustrated today.

Here's the timeline:

7:30am - Crawl out of bed, no alarm. Just woke up.
8:00am - Head to the gym.
8:30am - Amazing work out. I did my regular cardio that I usually struggle with, and then I felt so good that I went and did the majority of my weights workout that it usually reserved for when I'm working out with Josh. The medicine ball squats, laying on that ball and doing crunches, bench presses, more crunches, more medicine ball squats, you name it. I nailed it. I felt GREAT.
9:30am - The weekly weigh-in.

349.

You've got to be kidding me.

I went *UP* a pound this week.

I don't understand how that happened. I've eaten well, I worked out 5-6 times this week, I was completely active. I don't get it.

This is the time where, if I wasn't providing this blog, I was say "screw it", and head to Taco Bell.

I'm pretty pissed off about this right now. I honestly felt like I was doing everything right this week, and was looking for a big drop. I went into the gym, and through my workout on a big time high, and the bubble burst.

It takes about a half hour to drive from the gym to home, and the entire time I'm looking back at the week. I guess I 'picked' a bit here, 'picked' a bit there. Had Wendy's twice for dinner this week (but it's a grilled chicken sandwich with only lettuce and yellow mustard) and a yogurt with lowfat granola, so I thought I was in the clear.

It's time to go strict.

Josh, if/when you read this, I need to get with you about setting up something strict. I mean, like exact meals. Times to eat them. Whatever it takes for me to knock this weight out.

Very, very frustrated today.

Tucker keep your head up... Melissa has had the same frustrations...she spent 4 months 4 days a week with a personal trainer and gained 10lbs... but what she didn't see and I'll bet what you don't see either is that its an inital muscle build. Shes back on track and losing weight (gotta lose before the wedding... women!) anyway I know you'll do it too... keep your head up man! AND BACK OFF THE WENDY'S!!! I warned you about that didn't I?!?!:):)

maybe brandon is right...maybe it's muscle. you know when we used to watch the biggest loser, you see how the people on that show work out and work out and there are weeks where they don't lose any weight or even gain weight.
look at it this way, if you hadn't been doing this new work out routine, you would have taco bell instead of wendys, wouldn't have worked out, and would have GAINED a few pounds this week.
also..don't forget about the alfredo and cheesecake you had at my party friday night. don't mean to rat you out, just remining you! :)

Just keep your head up Tuck. You are going to get where you want just give it time. As for the gain in weight, it very well could be muscle.

hey homeboy, i'm back for traverse city and we are gonna hit it hard this week. i promise you your weight loss will be up and down. one week you'll gain one or two, the next you'll lose eight. just keep your eyes on the goal. i promise you i can make you lose 5+ lbs in an hour if i didn't let you drink water...but you would put in back on as soon as you put the water back in you. we are gonna definitely watch your weight, but lets look at all the other positives as well...the energy, the sense of accomplishment, etc. you are too strong of a person to let one punkass pound take you out of the game, even mentally. stick with me big dawg. hopefully we can hit atleast 2 this week. and we will definitely work on your eating. i want to teach you what to eat, not what not to. eating can still be enjoyable and great tasting. remember, i'm also a sports nutritionist, we'll get everything on point. tip for right now, make sure you are drinking lots, and constant water so the pounds don't fluctuate as much and you stay hydrated. much love.

I'm definitely not giving up. All day I've been sitting on this, and as much as it's pissed me off, it's motivated me even more.

I even put in my lunch these wierd little orange things. Erin tells me that they're called 'carrots'.

Wierd.

Carrots, huh? You ARE strange!
Anyway, hang in there buddy. Yes, it can be muscle. Or it can be a fluke. Or it can be some evil trick of satan trying to throw you out of whack and make you give up this soon! Who knows! What I DO know, from lots of experience (much to my dismay), it took YEARS to put those pounds on...they're not gonna come off in a week. Keep truckin' through this. With your determination, a group of friends determined to help you succeed, and what sounds like the world's most kick-ass trainer, there's no way you can fail!

Tuck, don't get yourself down. Like the others said, it may be muscle. If you're weight-training, and you've been pushing yourself and gone up in weights (if you're trying for mass) or up in reps (if you're trying for tone), then you have gained some muscle at least, and muscle supposedly weighs more than fat. At my peak during college (soph year, spring quarter), I weighed 30 pounds more than when I first got in (115 v. 145), but I was also putting up 275 as my flat bench max.

Also, your weight is gonna fluxuate. There are too many factors to control - what you ate/drank and when you ate/drank it relative to weigh-in, what you're wearing, whether you've gone to the bathroom, prolly whether you've even taken a shower recently, etc etc.

Just because your weight has gone up, doesn't mean you aren't cutting fat and getting healthy. Healthy living is a continual process, not an accomplishment.

You're golden, man.

One thing I've learned is not to judge your success based on what a scale tells you, but judge it based on how you feel, how clothes fit you, how much energy you have, etc.

The scale can't judge those things.

Keep at it, Bang.

Well you gotta think about when you weigh in, water weight and all that stuff, plus muscle weighs more, trust me if you keep eating right and doing it you'll see results, people that don't see results are the ones that get to a week and see their weight the same and jump back into the taco bell or whatever, I'm proud man you didn't do that when it would be easy to, you just gotta keep on at it and I know you will

Words of wisdom:

For every pound that refuses to leave you, work harder to know off two ;).

Just show them pounds that you aren't going to be pushed around by them. That you are going to work harder and harder until they all feel the wrath of the Tuck!

Just DON'T GIVE UP. Or I will come to D-Town, find LC, and we'll come after ya.

Tuck,

Monk is right. This is scientific fact. You'll be fine, and the muscle you're gaining now will eventually help you burn some of that fat. Get over the pound.
