Pimpin' Ain't Easy

Weigh In: 281.5

I've come to the realization that I'm in a slump. Mentally, I've got so many things going on that the importance of working out and eating right is still there, but it's fighting the need to take care of work and school, and it's a struggle. By no means have I quit (of course), but it's just been a tough road lately.

Physically, I've been exhausted as well. Constantly going from A to B - having 30 things on my plate. My schedule is a balancing act, and it's frustrating as hell. I'm having to find cracks in my schedule just to get my workouts in.

That being said, something has to be done. This isn't supposed to be easy - or everyone would be doing it. If this is a SACRIFICE, then that's exactly what I have to do. We've gone out and had a great time this week for Erin's birthday - been having family meals, going out to eat, you name it. I've talked myself into coasting when I need to be going full speed ahead. I just haven't been doing enough to EARN it - which is what has led to my lackadaisical attitude. I'm afraid that I've come off as "not caring" lately - that's just not the case. It's still the first thing on my mind - I just haven't put the time in, so unlike the past, I'm not allowing myself to be really pissed off.

One thing I haven't been doing is officially counting the calories every day. I'm going to start being more conscious of that. I haven't been - quite frankly - because I didn't want to see the number counted every day.

It's great when you have the motivation and drive and WANT to be doing this. Sometimes, you don't have that drive and motivation. But you know what? You suck it up, and you just do it anyways, whether you like it or not.

Just like any other responsibility in my life - it's got to get done. So, I'm going to keep doing it. I've always said that the "best motivator for weight loss is weight loss itself". Maybe if I EARN a few pounds lost, I'll regain that steam.

That's absolutely what you need to do. Be afraid of times like these. If you aren't careful, you could slide right into a comfortable half-assed routine. You just need to get back into the routine of things.

For what it's worth, I have my entire day (minus dinner) mapped out calorically (I love creating words), and I hit the gym pretty hard this morning.

I'm still not really "in" it, but it's good to know that I can get the job done even when I'm not in the groove.

Thats what I'm talking about! The winds are changing Matey. I like the theory of not having to be totally amped to get the job done. As long as you are gett-n ur done then the ampage will return in time. Now turn on the 4000watts of FAT kicking power.

Going to the gym in the morning always helps me stick to the diet later in the day. Keep pushing and you'll get through this. We can still hit 270 by October!

Ive read or heard it somewhere that the excuse of no time is really just that, an excuse. We can make time if we want. Ive been guilty of this too but in the end it was only I who suffered as a result of my NOT making time.

Youve come so far Rob and I know you can do this and you will :) Press onward and upward - the end result will be well worth the current sacrifice.

Rob, I kind of feel your pain. I am just starting school, full-time, and basically working the equivalent of a full-time job between my internship & my regular part-time job. It's not easy. But I prepared for it mentally a long time ago, and I have just decided, within reason, to make the sacrifices that I need to make to keep the weight off. I'm sure that there will be times during the semester that working out will be a luxury, but i hope that they will be few & far between, because I am trying to plan for them. It's just a matter of how badly you want it.
