Gut Check Time

Weigh In: 275.00

This is going to be short and sweet. I've done this a hundred times, and I've said it a hundred and one. This time, perhaps I'll mean it.

I've had this beautiful design at the top of my page declaring this "The Way" for a while - and Billy did a great job of putting it together.

But I've replaced it with a basic paint job - the new title shows what I need to do.

I've been settling. I've been showing weaknesses. I've had more excuses than the Bush administration.

That stops now - time to put the money where the mouth is. I see guys like Jay, Rip and Brian just doing great - guys that are my size. I've been told that I'm an inspiration for a lot of people - yet, if they've watched me the past few months hovering around the same weight, justifying and giving excuses, that's not much of a role model. I look at Brian's page and see that two months ago - he and I weighed the same. Today, he comes in TWENTY POUNDS less than me.

And why?

Because he doesn't make excuses, succumb to weakness and he doesn't settle for average when he deserves the best.

I have.

And that stops today.

Glad to hear it, Tuck, but are you going to live up to it this time?

thanks for the call out Rob, makes me feel good.

I have every faith in you that you can do EXACTLY what I've done in that time once you really decide you want to do it.

Good to hear man.

So what are you doing differently?

You should really check out the article Kristen posted yesterday, it sums things up pretty well.

Not that this is an excuse, but you've been doing this for far longer than Brian and it makes sense that his progress is faster. That being said, it still doesn't explain the huge discrepancy. You definitely need to tighten it up.

Growing up, every time my Great-Grandmother would say something to me I would say "I know Grandma, I know". Then one day she sat me down and said "Eugene (oh how I hated that as a kid...being chubby and named Eugene on top of it...it was hell) to know and not to do is not to know".

She never explained it to me. She didn't have to.

Rob, just like the name of your posting, it's gut check time. Literally.

Well you at least know its you who's holding you up. I believe you can have the results you desire if you really want them. Your tenacity at checking blogs and weighing yourself a bazillion times a day is a sign that you have tenacity. Just apply it where you want it most.

PS - this is not to take away from what youre already accomplished either. Just a swift kick in the rump to keep weight ball rolling :)

Rob,

Thanks for fixing the math. I knew I was top 3 material. I'm excited for this focus you're exhibiting now. I really am. You're going to have a whole bunch of new lows coming soon. The incredible shrinking man.

I guess I agree with Billy here. Brian is newer to this so it makes sense that he'd see bigger results right now - not to take anything away from Brian (he's doing great!).

I remember when you were pissed because you couldn't get below 300. Now look at you 30 pounds below that. That's no small number, my friend. Look at the big picture.

I'm not trying to deter you from doing what you need to do. I just don't think it's fair for you to beat yourself up like this :)

What a fitting post for me to come across first, as I start. Tuck, I got a confession...I've been putting off (like the slacker that I am) getting my blog up and running (now that I've figured out how lol) and getting some exercise in. Like you posted, its time for Shonakee to put up. I can't make excuses, I can't eat crap food and manipulate the food I eat for the rest of the day to keep my calorie intake as close to 2000 as possible (if you call 2300-3000 close..).

So, anyway, you might feel like you've been relaxed on yourself, but honestly you're not the only one and you admiting it had me take a look at myself.

Thanks for the plug man however I am no where near the league of Brian and Jay. I have only been loosing like 2-3 pounds a month the last few months which sucks. Those guys are amazing. I am starting to come to the terms that maybe my body just isn't ever going to drop the big pounds fast. I am gonna keep pushing though. I want this real bad and if it takes me twice as long as everyone else that is just fine. keep pushing man and what everyone else said is true. You have lost 100+ pounds its gonna slow down. Keep tricking your body it will come off.
