Nothing New

Weigh In: 273.00 (yikes)
Five Day Average: 271.3 (same)

Not really much to report today.

The weight went up yesterday as expected after the fondue meal, but I guess I wasn't expecting it to go up again today. And then (and Billy's going to cringe at this), I stepped on the scale just now and it read 278.5. For those that don't know, I step on the scale about 4-6 (hundred) times a day - I can usually tell the ebbs and flows of my day on the scale. I know - I shouldn't do it - but I do, and I'm ok with it.

That being said, I usually drop 2-3 pounds between 10pm and 6:30isham, so that's going to stick me with another weight gain if it happens. I did well with my meals today too, so it confuses the hell out of me, but I'm not going to be concerned about it until it happens. And if it does, I'll be pissed. But, I'll get over it, and keep working as normal. Again - the whole working out and eating right thing's a pretty successful method, so that's what I'm going to stick with, regardless of what the scale says.

Part of me thinks that I'm developing more muscle lately - the arms feel stronger, the lower back and legs are feeling bigger - so that might be part of the weight gain lately. Then again, that can be a big fat lie that I'm telling myself to feel better about it too, so yeah - let's not focus too much on it.

So we'll see - I'm amazingly calm after seeing the 278.5 tonight. I don't know if it's because I've seen this a million times and I know the patterns I fall into or what, but I've got the "I really want it, but if it doesn't happen tomorrow, it'll happen eventually".

All I know is that I'm busting humps trying to lose this weight, and it'll get done - tomorrow or next week or next month.

I just prefer tomorrow, thank you.

I tried stepping on the scale in the evenings, but I do one of two things.

-get freaked out at the huge swing
-completely ignore it

Either way, it wasn't good for my mental stability, so I stopped. Now I just weigh myself at what I think to be my lowest point of the day everyday and I'm happy :)

Hey there buddy, what are you doing? If you know that it makes you crazy, then stop doing it. Step away from the scale. Why fret? Just step on it in the AM. Make your wife lock it away or something. Or, I don't know, develop some self control.

Well you know how i feel about stepping on the scale that often. Why not weigh your bowel movements as well? ;)

As for building muscle, you probably don't want to hear this but at this stage in the game you may be improving the quality of your muscle, but as you're in a constant caloric deficit, I don't think it's possible that you're gaining any muscle at this point, at least not in any quantity that would show up on the scale.

yea, i have to agree that weighing yourself that much is not good.
If anything you're spending way too much time analyzing why you weighed more at 10:34am than 2:56. In the overall scheme of things it doesnt matter.

Rob..I agree. Put the scale away! Its good to hear your not letting the number on the scale determine what you may eat due to emotions.
