Tuck's "Burn It Up!" Challenge!

We will be doing both a Weight Loss Challenge and an Exercise Challenge. Totally separate from each other. The Weight Loss Challenge will be the same as last month and August, and this will be the Exercise Challenge.

For the "Burn It Up!" Challenge, there are no teams. You're not competing against other FAT Members - instead, you're competing against yourself - and most importantly, the FAT Coalition works as a TEAM.

Take an honest look at your workout habits. How long do you work out a day? A week? A month, even? Average it out, and do your math. If you didn't change ANYTHING - you just went about your day, how many minutes a day do you spend exercising? This what you would consider your "Base Point".

Now, for the challenge, let's see if we can push ourselves a little bit harder. Instead of giving 100%, let's give 110% - literally.

So, if you had 500 minutes as the amount of time you spend exercising over the course of a month (calculate to 28 days), then your goal is 550 minutes. If you spend 1000 minutes in the gym, then your goal is 1100. We'll measure this two ways.

1: I'll keep track of everyone's individual goal. You're not competing against anyone else in the Coalition. I'll post those each week, and we'll report numbers every week like we do now.

2: I'll keep a total team goal. Once we all establish our goals, I'll add them up and keep a full tally on this page.

And remember, since this isn't about winning and losing, be completely honest with yourself in terms of how much you've worked out in the past. Use the past few months as an example. The end goal is for us all to charge right into these next few months - perhaps the hardest months of the year to lose weight - and come out thinner, stronger and healthier.

October 31st is a Wednesday, so we'll start this challenge this Wednesday, October 3rd. So, let me know who wants in - and who can help the FAT Coalition "Burn It Up!"

I'm obviously in both challenges.

My exercise goal for this month is 1080 minutes (45 minutes a day, 6 days a week).

My 110% is 1188 minutes.

I will just stay in the monthly Tucks challenge (weight loss one).

I will do both challenges.

September I worked out 600 minutes.
My goal for October will be 750 minutes (I am following the Afterburn program).

My final weigh in for September was 184 lbs, you can use that for the October start weigh in.

Well, I can't be in the weight loss challenge as I'm trying to gain, and in a bulking phase, exercise volume isn't necessarily a good thing as it's more about intensity and plenty of rest. I wonder if there's something I can do in regards to weight gained, but a ratio of weight gained to waist measurement or something? I dunno, I'll have to think about it... I may just have to go balls out without a specific numerical goal...

My final weigh in for September is 273.5.

I'll stay in the weight loss challenge, but I'm actually thinking of scaling back from 6 days per week of workouts to 3 days on one day off, which would reduce my total workload over a month...so I'll skip the second challenge.

Rob,

I'll just stick to the weight loss challenge. If you didnt get it off your last blog, Beck and I will remain a team for October.

Im tryig to focus on quality rather than quantity in my workouts, so I'll probably pass on that. I am in for the weight loss challenge. I think I need a new partner though.

I'm in for weight loss. Chris and I would like to partner up.

:( I feel so left out...

Awe Billy. Im willing to challenge you on a arm hypertrophy. We can take pics or something and do measurements by tape and calipers. You game?

We'll probably skip the Exercise challenge if no one's up for it.

Rob I love the exercise challenge idea, it just seems that we all do our own thing, so there is no consistent way to quantify it. I like where your head is, and I have my own goals (as you know.) Maybe you and Dave and I (the only peeps interested?!?) could do a weekly check-in (on comments? in a blog? via email?) that we're on track with our goals. Just a thought.

I left it on your last post, but my final weigh in for Sept. was 179.96 and Rebecca and I are in for October challenge. Look out, she and I are on FIRE.

Marcol, I'm down with that challenge! I just did some measurements today. What do you think is the best way to do it? Maybe we could do this: just compare all of our measurements at the end of October, including body fat and weight?

Im in for the weight loss challenge. Exercise would be hard for me to figure out since I was "training".

David said...

Weight loss challenge only for this month. With the time spent in the field this month, i'm left with almost no time to train.

Thanks

Hey Billy, I'll let you know what my measurements are and then we can track them over the month. You better do some serious pumping cause I sure the hell am going to get it done.

I'll get someone to do my bf% and we can track that too. Billy you better bring it cause I sure am :)

Perhaps we should take some pics of our arms too - to note the progress of our tri's and bi's at the end of the month then you can post a poll or something at the end of your blog to have folks cast votes. What ya think?

Billy and Marcol, I would be up for the body composition challenge this month.

My head is there this month (I know I have been saying that for a few months now). This just sounds like a real challenge to me :)

Bring it on Dave! I'll be getting my measurements up and trying to get some headless photos... Sorry, Im so not into plastering my face over the WORLD wide web.

Perhaps I'll feel differently about it when Im the sexy hottie that Im working on becoming :)
