The VFW Diet

Weigh In: 271.8

Ok, give it to me. I won't like to hear it, but give it to me. Tell me how I am all talk, tell me that the only reason I'm not staying under 270 is my shitty decisions, and tell me how tired you are of hearing about me not being able stay faithful to my diet. It is what it is.

I don't know why I do it. Ate PERFECTLY today. Made my turkey chili on Sunday, packed that lunch, was all set to go.

My company had a major advertising meeting (the ENTIRE company - the Detroit Free Press is huge, btw) at the Sheraton Hotel tonight. There was a bar and they served dinner. Think wedding reception, a lot like that. So, because I was in a social situation, what did I do? I ate and drank everything. I had the roll with butter again, I had the chicken and red skinned potatoes (only option) that was coated in butter, I had 3 drinks, and then I had this BIG ass piece of cheesecake. They just put the cheesecake in front of you, but I could have pushed it away. I didn't. I don't know why. No excuses, no reasons, no offered up thoughts on it. Just freaking stupid.

So it is what it is. I doubt the weight loss Gods give me two free passes in 3 days. If you guys were in front of me, I'd have you punch me square in the luggage.

So I steal a page out of Billy's book for tomorrow. I can't go as extreme as he does, but a controlled fast is called for. The VFW Diet.

Veggies, Fruits, Water.

That's it.

24 hours from the last time I ate, which was 6pm. So, I'll have nectarines, oranges, and water. For dinner I'll have the turkey chili that I was planning on having for lunch. And then I'll go to bed, and then MAYBE I'll learn that eating like a goddamned moron doesn't work for me.

I have to do better, there's no excuse for this.

More tomorrow, I need to go jump off the roof.

Dude, I'm so in the same boat. I KNOW I need to eat better. I KNOW I need to exercise, but I don't. It all boils down to a decision. Do the healthy thing, or do the unhealthy thing. I'd tell you to just pick "healthy," but seriously, who am I to talk??

Do you and Erin wanna come up for some pizza? And almond bark?

:)

It boggles my mind. I can't even imagine being someone who reads my blog. It's the same thing, over and over again. I don't know what part of my brain allows this.

Hell, it's 5:30am and I'm about to hit the gym. I feel like total shit. My body has all this CRAP in it, and I feel horrible, bloated - I feel sick. And all because I ate stupid yesterday.

If you want to get into doing intermittent fasting, let me know. There are certain physiological things that happen when your body is in a fasted state for 24 hours. Your insulin levels drop dramatically, and your Human growth hormone levels spike consistently throughout the day. This makes you burn more fat.

While your VFW fast will give you the benefits of reducing calories, it won't give you the hormonal benefits of fasting.

I think maybe you should try it. If nothing else, it's an exercise in self-discipline. Especially since you are having a hard time being good throughout the week. If you devoted 24 hours a week to fasting, your little slipups here and there wouldn't destroy your progress.

You know that shitty feeling that you have right now? You need to take that and use it for motivation. We are all humans. And losing fat isn't easy. Pick yourself back up, dust yourself off, and get back on the horse.

Billy, what types of things are you talking about? To give you an idea, I had a nectarine for breakfast - and another nectarine and two oranges for lunch. Strangely enough, I'm not even hungry. I have two more nectarines (take a guess at what fruit I happened to have at the house) with me if I start to get hungry at work.

It's interesting to note that I'm still feeling pretty pissed off at myself this morning. This whole 'fast' thing feels like I'm punishing myself, which essentially I'm doing. I couldn't do this every day, but with 5 hours left before the 24 hours is official, I feel just fine.

I think I fall into the "eat because it's time to eat" area sometimes. I'll blog more about this later today I think.

BAD TUCKER!!! Eating crap because you can is bad, bad, bad!! You know what you need to do bro, and overeating about once a week will screw everything up. You can do this, Tuck, but you need to focus. We've all been here, now get moving forward or I might still beat you at the 110 pound challenge.

not sure what to say tuck...you need to make a change that is going to get you motivated again.

Ok, it's 5:30. I'm freaking starving. Now would be a good time to have a snack. Too bad I was a moron yesterday and am being punished today.

Volleyball at 7pm - so I'll have the turkey chili when I get home at 6:30. Someone say something motivating right now, I'm not feeling it.

So did you wrap up the VFD diet then move back into sensible eating? Hope you stayed on course... waiting for a update.
