Calories Counted Today: 2216
Days In A Row Blogging: 1
I said yesterday that there were three things that I had to do to make sure I get my ass back in gear.
1: Go the gym on a consistent basis
2: Count and report calories
3: Daily blogging
This is what I have to do to get back on track. I've "said" I was going to get on track a few (ok, about 43 times) in the past, but I never followed up on this. It's the key ingredient to this whole process - accountability. So, here's the first step - my eating for today:
Sun, Jul 20 2008 | |||
Breakfast | |||
A- KELLOGG'S FROSTED MINI-WHEATS, bite size | 111 | 382
A- Milk, Lowfat, Fluid, 1% Milkfat - With Added Vitamin A | 366 | 154
Lunch | |||
C- LEAN POCKETS Brand Sausage & Pepperoni Pizza | 504 | 560
Dinner | |||
Greek Dressing | 112 | 400 | |
A- Salad, Vegetables Tossed - Without Dressing, With Turkey, Ham And Cheese | 435 | 357
Snacks | |||
A Bananas | 303 | 270 | |
B- Peanut Butter, Chunk Style - With Salt | 16 | 94
Total Calories Consumed | 2,216 |
Bugs me that the peanut butter isn't the right kind but I only had 1 tablespoon of the Kroger reduced fat and the program won't let me do 'half' a serving, since the serving size is 2 tablespoons. Other than that, it's pretty on. I think I did too much of the greek dressing too, but I'd rather be higher than lower.
Also, I hit the gym hard as hell today, used the Belly Off "Summer Special" - tons of squats and such, so my legs are totally destroyed. I actually went to do some time on the Eliptical today after my workout by my legs were shaking so hard I literally got like 90 seconds in and almost fell off. So, good workout.
I also avoided a temptation. We ended up going to dinner with the parents and grandparents tonight - I got the salad (actually split it with my wife, I had the smaller "half"), and as we were done, the waitress tells us that "with every dinner comes a complimentary dessert tonight". I had the choice between rice pudding, tapioca or wild cherry ice cream (which is one of my favorites of all time).
I chose nothing.
So, one day in the books. It means nothing if I screw up day two - stay tuned.

Rob, glad your getting back in the game. I would ditch the lean pockets for some other real food if I were you. I know calories are the main part of the game but quality food really does help. Any way man I was stoked to see a different post then the one that sat there for weeks. Stick to your rules and you will succeed.
Rob,
Here are four words that i hope will motivate you and keep you in the game.
"Finish what you started"
Be a winner man !
It's great to see you back, Rob! And what a workout...very motivational! I think I'm going to push myself in my workout today. I want that feeling of not being able to give anymore because I pushed myself to the max.
We have to (re)start somewhere. Might as well be right here, right now. Let's go.
I'm glad you are back Rob, I've missed your blogs quite a lot! Looks like you have everything planned out, just stick to your guns man, we're all here for you!
I agree with Rip, should try to get some real foods in, but on the other hand at least you are controlling your calories! I look forward to hearing more about your progress!
I've been telling you to ditch the lean pockets for a while now. And the frosted mini-wheats might not be the ideal choice either.
But the fact of the matter is you can still lose weight eating that stuff as long as you eat under maintenance, plain and simple.
What really worries me Rob is that you managed to gain 10 pounds on your "break". What this says to me is that you are still in diet mentality and you are either dieting or gaining. You need to learn how to take a break and maintain with moderation.
Glad you're back trying though. Stay strong.
Rob -
Like everyone else I am so glad you are motivtaed and back in the game again. I would hate to see you give back any of the great strides you've made over the last year plus.
My weigh in this morning for the "Hill-Tuck Labor Day Challenge" was 236. I'll report every Monday on your blog. How about loser cooks a healthy barbeque meal for the fam?
Tom
I'm obviously not an expert, but I think the lean pockets are okay? Isn't the main point the calories? Plus, that's what you ate when you lost 100 lbs., so it can't be that bad.

The real problem is that I was lying to you guys because I was lying to myself. I've been on a break for months - from not weighing in to eating fast food and sweets and everything else, to not working out as much as I should have been.
Honestly, I'm not worried about the Lean Pockets and such - in fact, I packed them today again. There are better alternatives - I've got the ingredients for my turkey chili sitting in the fridge, but I wasn't able to cook it up last night.
The bottom line for me is, I have to WANT it.
Seeing 291 on the scale?
That was more motivation than any speech could have done. When I was in the 270's I was "still over 100 pounds lost". When I was in the 280's, it was "just a few away from the 270s again".
291?
That's the wrong side of the tracks, and I got that cold slap of reality.
Alright, Rob, good to see you back in the game! You're on the right track in making a plan to succeed. Keep it going.
I'm not claiming to be a diet expert either. I just know there is allot of processed junk in those lean pockets. I just want to see you do as well as you can so that's why I made the comment about the lean pockets. You put clean fuel in the tank it will burn better and allow you to get in more intense workouts. I know this cause I have tried to workout on garbage and it doesn't go as well. My workout after my cheat meal Saturday night was brutal... I was seriously dragging a$$.
Anyway, know that any comment I make is with the best intentions cause I care about how your doing. Not that I am trying to be smart a$$ or hard Ass or whatever.. I would expect the same from you or anyone else in the coalition.
Rip, much appreciated and totally not taken in any negative way. To me, it's more about getting things under control and getting back in line. Ideally, I'm not eating Lean Pockets every day - I'm not even a big fan of them but they're in the house, so that's what I go with. Erin told me today that she made my chili so you'll be seeing a better lunch from me tomorrow :)
