I'm actually surprised today at how much sodium I took in. I ate pretty stellar today. We went to Chili's for my dad's birthday today (Happy Birthday Dad!), and I had cajun salmon (off of the Guiltless Grill menu) with black beans and broccoli. I had about 10 chips and some salsa, but according to the calorie-count.com guide, there's only 450 in an ENTIRE basket of chips. I had less than a 5th of it, so about 500 mg of sodium there.

The thing that really surprised me is that between my 8 ounces of grilled salmon, a cup of black beans and broccoli, there was over 1000 mg of sodium.

Either way, it could definitely be worse, but now that I've got a secondary focus on my sodium intake, I'm surprised at where I'm finding high sodium levels. Just something to think about.

Until tomorrow - I've got to hit the hay.. getting up at 5:30am comes way to quick when I'm not hitting the hay until after 11pm every night. Catch you tomorrow.

The Sodium is a problem for me. I can't seem to stay in a healthy range. It's everywhere!

I feel like sodium is like the 'new' thing in my head. Billy or Kevin, do you guys have any idea on the levels that you should have? I was told I should hover around 2000 - but I've been blowing that number out of the water lately.

I know it's not the most important number we're looking at - but you know how I get - when I focus on something, I go way overboard, as usual :P

I was told to try not to exceed 3,000mg per day. But that might have been just for me. I dunno.

3000 sounds so much more reasonable. I've been trying to keep under 2000, and that's damn near impossible. Hell, 6 ounces of tuna has almost 750.

I have no idea really. Maybe once I get my weight under control, I can start worrying about sodium...

Unless you have high blood pressure or heart disease in your family I wouldn't worry too much about it unless you are going crazy and eating strait salt. I hardly add salt to anything so that makes me think I am ok. Truthfully I should watch mine closer cause I do have borderline high blood pressure etc. Hoping that will come down with the weight though.
