Batter Up

Weigh In: 288 (new low!)
Calories Counted: 2,625

So this is a few days in a row where I've been slowly creeping down. Part of me has a hard time wrapping my mind around the fact that I'm 288 today. It may sound wierd, but 288 sounds SO much more than 291. It feels like a mile away. So, that's good.

I'm still not sure if I'm out of my plateau, but I've been working hard, and I think that's what matters. It means a lot to me that a lot of you have said that I'm a motivation and inspiration for you, so I hold that banner proudly.

Oh, also - here's a few pictures that were taken this week during softball. More candid, so it's not exactly like I'm posing, but it gives an idea of what I'm looking like - full body shots during the game yesterday:

I feel pretty good about the first two, because when you're looking straight at me, I seem like I'm losing the weight pretty well. The third one really tells the tale, though. My midsection - my gut, waist, legs and junk in the truck.. all still wildly out of control. I know I'm getting there, but other than the "number on the scale", this is what really pushes me.

I think I mentioned this right when I started this, but one of my worst moments in my life was when we were watching home videos over my In-Laws house of a vacation that we took a few years ago. It was a tape of the week previous, and I had decided to take a canoe out on the lake. Someone videotaped me without my shirt on, and honestly, I felt so incredibly embarassed that I can't even put it into words.

It was one of those times where the first thought in my head was "oh my god, who the hell is that fatass?" before I was looking at myself. This moment was one of those that changed my entire life around.

So, the third picture tells me that I have a LONG way to go - I'm nowhere near my goals.

But the first two tell me that I've come a long way from where I started.

You have definitely come a long way Rob. I'm happy for you about your new low too - 3 pounds is big, I trust you are on a downward spiral after all your hard work.

Rob, I was thinking the same thing earlier. 288 sounds like a ton less than 291. You're doing so well. It won't be long before you hit 250.

Rob I have one of those pictures too that really drove it home for me that I needed to lose weight. A picture my in laws took that I was really embarrassed about and I don't even have my shirt off. I feel ya man... Hopefully in a while I will have some pics that show some light at the end of the tunnel like you have. Glad to see your weight is budging downward.

I have a lot of these pictures, but the one that pops out in my mind is from last summer. I had lost a few pounds, and I was doing well. I was wearing capri type things and thought I was looking acceptable - maybe even cute. I looked at the pics my mom posted online after our trip and almost puked in my mouth. I really had no idea that it was still that bad. I'm sure there have been worse pictures, but I've been on a mission ever since that one.

Rob- Those pics look like you're really hitting a home run in this transformation. Pun, oh so intended.

In all seriousness, it looks like you're rounding third and on your way home. Kidding.

Seriously, though, it looks like you've really stolen second by dropping down to 288 like that.

OK, I'll stop.

I almost spit out my coffee laughing about Kristens comment about puking in her mouth...

That's the best feeling, seeing pictures of yourself and not being horrified. You gotta love that. Lookin' good man!

If I had coffee in my mouth when I read Kevin's puns, I probably would've spit it out. Except probably not because I'm at work and that would just be embarrassing. Plus, I'd have to tell people what made me laugh and then they'd quickly realize that I'm not actually working.

Anyway...

You look great, Rob! Even in the third picture, you can see that you've come a LONG way. Keep up the great work.
