Homework for All: Read this

A few of you probably have already read this, but I've been skimming through it (it's long), and it's really, REALLY helpful. I think I found this off of a link of a link of a link of a link (you get the idea) that Billy or Dave had on their page, but it's the first time I've seen it, so it may help anyone else that reads it.

Men's Health Article.

Breaks it down, and breaks down a lot of the myths that I've always known as truths (less eating=more weight loss). I'll be going through it more, and seeing what I can learn.

Just something I thought may be helpful.

Yep.

That's the first thing I read when I kicked this deal off. Good stuff in there, for sure.

"First thing first – how much fat do you want to lose? If the number is bigger than 2lbs/week, then go back to the part about time, patience and forethought, and begin again. Trying to lose any more than 2lbs/week (without the use of pretty strong supplements/steroids) will result in either a)muscle loss (which is bad), b)a lowering of your body’s metabolic rate (which is bad), or c)both (which is really bad)"

Not to say I told you so, but, ah, screw it... I told you so! ;)

Because you’ll lose muscle. And you need muscle. So don’t burn muscle. Unless you’re very large (we’re talking 350-400 lbs here) you need all the muscle you can get.

I know I won't be able to lose 3-4 pounds a week for my entire 92 pounds I have left, but I'm going to shoot for the moon for a few months. Worst case? I come up short.. but just barely. I can accept failure if the end result is a win Billy :)

Like Rob said, I've heard and read that if you're 75+ pounds overweight, you can start off by losing 3-4 pounds per week safely - that included a daily caloric defecit of 1,000 calories (2libs per week), and 3-5 days of weight training and cardio (1-2 pounds per week). I've been losing at a rate of just over 2.5, and I'll continue to do that until I get to 300 pounds - 40 pounds over my goal.

Hopefully that's right.

Honestly, I just want the number to keep going down. I know they say not to focus on the number, but to me, that's the concrete proof.

There's no possible way that you don't feel better, have looser clothes, and a MUCH healthier lifestyle at 250 than you do at 350, so if the number gets there, I'll reap the rewards.

As for 4 a week.. if I have to cut off a toe, I'll cut off a toe ;)
