Life's a roller coaster, ain't it?
It seems like every day we're posting blogs, and every day it's something new. "I'm doing great!" is nicely followed by "I'm so frustrated!", and it alternates every day.
To me, that means one thing.
We haven't given up, and this whole process is working.
I worked out this morning, and as you can tell by the numbers, I'm improving. The weight is down today, although I can't get too excited because my 5-day average is still 340.2. Either way though, I can't help but notice that it's my LOWEST recorded weight in years, and the best I've seen so far. Of course, the last time I said this a few days ago, it shot right back up the next day.
I'm starting to get obsessed with this. I wake up, and want to hit the gym. I want to write more blogs. I want to eat right, and I want to lose this damn Goodyear tire that sits around my waist. And I want it now. But, it's not coming NOW. Beck had mentioned yesterday that she's getting impatient, and I've been feeling that way as well, but we're getting there. We can't stop now, because we're just turning a corner.

And this is the type of excitement we need to keep us motivated. There's power in numbers in the weight loss scene. Like you said, when one person's frustrated, another is feeling great. We all need to feed off of the good and encourage those who are feeling frustrated. We've got a good system going on here.
Good job on the progress. Keep it up, Rob!
Also, awesome post about your weight loss motive.
Not to preach, but don't pay much attention to your weigh in today. A) It could change tomorrow, B) If it goes up, it can be VERY discouraging, C) Your REAL weight is what your 5-day average says it is.
Feel good about the weight until you get off the scale, then focus on the 5-day.
You'll be better off for it in the long run.
That's what I'm trying to get through my head. It's why I haven't changed the blog title yet.
I'm not sure what's worse.. being frustrated at being stuck at 340ish, or seeing a lower weight and not being allowed to be happy about it :-D
When I was on weight watchers-you only weighed yourself once a week, same day, around the same time if possible. It helps. You keep looking at the scale, it's enough to drive ya nuts. Muscle weighs more than fat, and with how you're working out-your body is changing. Not fast enough for you, but you're changing! :)
Soon we'll all be calling you "Skinny" Tuck :)
Soon we'll all be calling you "Skinny" Tuck :)
LOL! I'm afraid to hear what you call me now ;)
I tried the once-a-week thing, but even that was showing some fluxuations, so I'm going to stick with the 5-day average thing.
The thing I like about the every-day weigh in is, it feeds my curiousity. As I mentioned earlier, I've become obsessed with this. Hell, I can't go 30 minutes without checking every blog in the FAT Coalition.
Skinny Tuck. I like it.
Congratulations on the low number on your weigh in Rob. I know you're focusing more on the "5 day average" now, but that had to make you feel good to see that lower number pop up on the scale. We need to see results for the motivation to keep us working hard - and you're definitely seeing results.
I wish I could say I wake up in the morning and am obsessed about getting to the gym right away. I was there at 6:00 this morning, but I had to drag (and I do mean drag!) myself there. :)
Keep up the great work - I'd love to work out with you some time. Does Bally's have some daily rate deal I could do?
Tom
Tom -
I can get you a guest pass for one day, but in terms of multiple days, I'm not sure how that works.
If Josh the Destroyer reads this, can you let us know about 'daily rates' at Ballys?
Here's my concern.. what if the 50 year old outworks me at my own gym? I'll have to transfer to Lifetime ;)
