I actually didn't intend to skip the scale today. I was going to hit the scale after the gym, but ended up changing plans at the last second and going straight from the gym to work instead of coming home first. So, I was up at 5:30, in the gym by 6:30am, at work at 8 until 6, and then off to the Pistons game.
If you guys haven't noticed, this whole thing has been stressing me the hell out lately. Yesterday was the closest to a breaking point in a long, long time. Everything has been building up and the results have been garbage. I've been doing some major soul searching - trying to find out what changes would make sense. I've made a ton of changes in the past 3-5 months - and none of them have been productive. Work out plans, eating plans, bullshit motivational speeches which weren't followed up on - it's a vicious cycle. The worst part is, Erin and I ended up rolling away from each other last night in bed angry at each other because we were talking about what I should do, and I disagreed with her. I gave her crap out of frustration and ended up snapping at her.
I was wanting to do something "drastic". Change the diet completely up - and I had convinced myself over the last 24 hours that going back into the Adkins style (not completely but more of that theme) of eating would be my next goal. She told me that I shouldn't do that, and that I needed to write down and count every single calorie. She told me that I have been lying to myself and have probably been eating more than I've been convincing myself of. She told me that I needed to stop playing the victim - and in her own words, "Stop being a bitch", and just do what I know works.
That pissed me off. But the worst part?
She was exactly right. I told you - no matter how many times I want to throw her off the nearest bridge, she calls it how she sees it. She won't give me some bullshit answer just because it's something I want to hear. I love her to death because of it - the curse AND the blessing ;)
So this is what I'm going to do that is "new".
I'm counting calories to the penny now. If it's a home recipe, I'm going to put it into the reciple analyzer that Calorie Count has, and be accurate with it. I'm going to report EVERYTHING that I eat every day, in my blog. For the first week or so, I'm going to cut/paste my carb/protein/fat pie chart right into my blog.
It's a pain in the ass. But so is getting up and going to the gym 6-7 days a week, and I've found a way to make that work. I haven't finished my day yet, so this info is incomplete, but this is what the beginning of each blog will look like:

That's what they'll all start off with. Today could have been better so far - I didn't think to make a lunch today, I ended up packing breakfast (quick change of plans this morning meant I wasn't having breakfast at home this morning) and didn't think to pack a lunch. We ended up having lunch at work today, people brought stuff, so I had some sweedish meatballs and a homemade tuna sandwich (someone made a ton of them) - I passed up the donuts, chocolates, and walnut brownies that have been sitting 15 feet away from me in my line of vision for the past 6 hours, not that I'm bitter. So, I made the best of it. Since I won't see my house until after the Pistons game tonight, we have to get fast food. I'll report in on that tonight too - I'll make the best choices possible.
So, THIS is where the rubber meets the road. I NEED the FAT Coalition to stick on me about this. If a day goes by and I'm not posting this stuff, CALL ME OUT. Look at my numbers, give advice. Be the critic.
I need you guys right now. This is when I sound the alarm and am looking for answers.

You got it. Time for the FAT brigade to ride Rob's ass until he does it right! :)
OK man, but I have something to say too.
I really think you need to take a look at cutting your carbs. Do you have to go atkins? No, absolutely not. But ALL the research I've done, and in particular, what I've found works for me, is cutting out carbs as much as possible.
What it comes down to for me is eating meat, vegetables, beans, nuts, a bit of rice, and almost zero bread or pasta of any kind.
I know, it's not easy to make the transition, but once you do, it works wonders and is the best bet for your health and your weight.
For now? Follow your plan. But think about it. Try to reduce carbs wherever you can. Having a sandwich? Have it open face. Double helping of veggies instead of potato. Try to get that carb % down to like 1/3 of your intake.
Billy,
Those are the types of things I want to study as the days go on. I'm going to provide those %'s on the charts - I do want to lower the carbs, but as of last night, I had myself convinced of a NO carb extreme diet - and we both know that overdoing it would do more harm than good. Definitely need to be better with WHAT I'm putting in, not just the amounts. This is the part I never truly learned the first go-around.
Alright, Tuck. Do it to it. I think Erin was right, and you know I don't like to disagree with my boys when they're fighting with their girls, but you're obviously doing something wrong, and if you're working out all the time, it's obvious what it is. So get your head in the game, do things right, don't kill yourself with a no carb diet, and let's get this thing moving again
Tuck,
I think you are on the right track. I have found that whenever I start counting calories, results follow.
If caloriecount.com gives you any problems at all, try www.nutritiondata.com, I use it. It allow you to input all the ingredients to a recipe and then save it. So if you make Chili, you would input all the ingredients once, then going forward, just choose Chili and how many ounces/servings. Not sure if cc.com does that, but thought I'd let you know.
