Q and A

Start Weight: 280.4 (March 3)
Goal Weight: 260.4
Today's Weigh In: 275.4
Days to Goal (April 16): 46 remaining
Total Pounds Lost: 5.0 out of 20

Here's a riddle for you.

Q: What do you get when you work out in the morning, eat right and hold off the temptation of eating pizza, and instead eating your scheduled lunch of fruit and turkey chili?

A: A 2 pound weight gain.

I'll never figure my body out, and why it reacts the way it does, but it just proves what I've been saying to be true. All I need to do is walk PAST a bakery to gain a pound. In this case, I was in the SAME ROOM as pizza and put on two.

Not sure why - and it does bother me, but being a veteran of this war against fat, I know that this is just what happens. I had a good eating day again today to go along with another workout, so I don't expect that to stick.

Honestly, I'm getting tired of being in the 270's. I've done what I should be doing, yet the body doesn't want to seem to let go. My brain wants to start changing things around, but we've been there before. I'm going to just continue what I'm doing - eating right, working out, and living healthy, and the weight will come off.

In the meantime, keep pizza out of the same room with me.

STUPID FRIGGIN PIZZA!

I had a bad pizza run in this week, too. After wanting some all week, I was at a staff meeting Monday night where they cooked up some Papa Murphey's.

I even packed my own tuperware of chicken to eat instead of pizza, and what did I do? Procede to eat three slices.

And then have a whipped topping brownie.

It kept me at the 409 mark I had since Friday.

But I'll be damned if it wasn't the most deliciosu brownie I've ever had.

I hear you Rob. I swear...the other day I happened to see a coupon in our newspaper for a chinese buffet and my pants got tighter.

Hopefully your 5-Day Average will show that this was just a fluctuation. There are so many different variables that go into things...I wouldn't worry about it too much.

You know, you're right - I haven't been using the 5-day average. I'll start using it again.

Another thing to consider is when you are weighing yourself. If it is late in the day you could be adding a lot of water weight. just a thought.

I usually weigh in at the same time of day, early morning. I'm not too worried about the weight popping back up, I saw 273.6 again this morning so it was a day where the Earth's gravity was a bit stronger - it totally wasn't my fault ;)

See this is the reason why I weigh myself a minimum of 16 times each morning. You just can never be too sure. I usually weigh my self 4 times first thing, 4 times after brushing my teeth, 4 times after any bowel movements, and 4 times after my shower. I then plot and graph the readings in both pounds and kilograms and then draw a straight line with a ruler through the middle deciphering the average.

Now you might be thinking, "but what about human error?" And I have thought about that too. So I take all the readings and my human appointed average and first thing I do at work is log them all into a top of the line government computer database and let it compute the average. If the computed average is +-.0001 from the human appointed average, then I just rely on my first measurement and say F'it.

LOL - you had me going for a little bit on the 16 times a day. I used to be OBSESSED with the number on the scale. I seriously would weigh myself 8-10 times a day.

I'm not that bad anymore - but I still step 2-3 times a day. Crazy, though - it never gives me the number I want, which is 220 :P

Regarding your body just wanting to hold on to the weight, maybe it's time to change up your workout routine? I mean, there are literally tons of different ones out there, and I think if you are plateauing that now would be the time to start researching one that works for you, but is quite different from what you're doing now.

Dude, that sucks! Hang in there, man. Warmer weather will help, I think. I know the winter has taken a nasty toll on me. Massive comfort food cravings, not a lot of resources for exercising...

Just looking forward to more days like today! :)

I feel your pain - I LOVE pizza.

I think I've asked before about your water intake. I've found that consistently drinking a certain amount of water (I've found by experience what it is), my weight can stay a little more steady. I have also read that dehydration can cause weight fluctuation. It just doesn't sound like your food intake should cause such drastic ups & downs. Hang in there!
