Start Weight: 280.4 (March 3)
Goal Weight: 260.4
Today's Weigh In: 277.4
Days to Goal (April 16): 55 remaining
Total Pounds Lost: 3.0 out of 20
I'm blatantly stealing Kevin's idea - and since the two of us have been doing this side by side since Day 1, it seems appropriate that we fight together on our way down to 260. Kevin posted a blog about pride a few nights ago, and it struck a chord with me. Everything he said, I felt. This pushed me to flat out copy him, and push both of us OUT of the 270s forever. And forget just the 270's - the 260's as well. And after a 15 months of doing this, we're within .2 pounds of each other. Separated at birth? Very possible.
I've been looking for a source of motivation lately, and I've been struggling with it. I've been looking at myself, other people, reading articles, just trying to "do something" - everything.. and nothing has been working for me. Strangely enough though, reading Kevin's blog yesterday, the one I linked to, drudged something up.
Kevin and I have always been like this - gung ho for a while, and then RIGHT when we're JUST ABOUT to really do something, we choke. Something keeps us from hitting that goal. I know this sounds like the 'same old' crap .. but the way I see it - this is another fork in the road. Do I choose to fail again, or do I choose to succeed. It's really simple.
So, Kev - if you're up for it, let's do this together and break through. You're in town now, so let's get this done. What do you say - and anyone else who is up for it.
HUGE month in March? No more bellyaching and excuse making? We control our OWN bodies instead of our weaknesses doing it for us? We can call it a 'challenge' if you want, or we can call it leaning on each other as a team, but whatever we call it, it's about damn time that we cut out the bullcrap and pity parties that we're both giving, and just knock it out of the park.
Eye of the Tiger. Anyone with me?

2 things:
1. I love the new blog postings with all the new weight info. Keep up on that and hold yourself responsible. :)
2. You and your twin seperated at birth should hang out since he is so close now. Not sure what exercises you could do together with the cold weather, but maybe even seeing each other would be some motovation?
Yay! :)

You are right, it is perfect for you to and Kevin to do this together.
It is also a perfect time to kick it into high gear with nicer weather on the horizon.
Let's do this. No excuses. No defeat. No surrender.
We're gonna look nice at the launch party.
Why don't you two put some money on it? I know that BrotherJay and my contest pushed us both harder than either of us would have pushed without the incentive (The cash was really just a physical embodiment of our pride).
But seriously, put up $50, hell, put up $100. Put up enough that you really can't afford to lose. I think it can make a huge difference.
I don't think cash would do much to motivate me at this point. Plus, I don't have any.
I think having somebody else with a goal that is literally identical to mine will be huge. And if this snow ever breaks, we need to go find an outdoor hoop somewhere. Or an open field and a football.
We can definitely do that - I think it'll help when spring breaks. Being so close, I know there's a few places where we can play hoops or throw the football around. Plus, I can LOOK - we may be able to use my church gym at certain times to play some pick up ball, I can look into that too.
That would be sweet.
I just shot an email over to the Athletic director at my church, I'll let you know as I know.
You won't need the money when you win. That's how you need to look at it. You LITERALLY can't afford to lose...
Well, I know I'm not close to you, but I'm all for the no belly aching no excuses month of March. Let's make March an awesome month for our goals.
Hell yeah, Rob. It's time to dominate the month. I'm with you all the way.
PS: Just saw Billy's thoughts on the bet. GREAT idea. Ive got a twenty pound bet going on with a friend and it's been a great motivator.
We're both po' folks, so our wager is public humiliation. Even more effective than cash, I think!
I don't know if this is helping me or not, but my wife made certain "special" promises if I continue to lose fat. haha.
Risin' up, back on the street
Did my time, took my chances
Went the distance, now I'm back on my feet
Just a man and his will to survive
So many times, it happens too fast
You change your passion for glory
Don't lose your grip on the dreams of the past
You must fight just to keep them alive
It's the eye of the tiger, it's the cream of the fight
Risin' up to the challenge of our rival
And the last known survivor stalks his prey in the night
And he's watchin' us all in the eye of the tiger
Face to face, out in the heat
Hangin' tough, stayin' hungry
They stack the odds 'til we take to the street
For we kill with the skill to survive
Risin' up, straight to the top
Have the guts, got the glory
Went the distance, now I'm not gonna stop
Just a man and his will to survive
Justin, I appreciate the thought but I'm not giving, not getting, "special" prizes from Kevin. I mean - he's a good looking guy and all, but just not my type.
ha, that's hilarious
Haha. Just trying to help...thats all!
