A Crack In The Glass?

Weigh In: 330 .. er, I mean.. 328.5?

All things happen for a reason, right? This morning was probably the most UNMOTIVATED I've been in a long time. I woke up, and was ready to go to the gym. I found everything non-productive that I could possibly do, to NOT go. I checked the blogs, I checked my email, I watched the Beauty and the Geek Finale (awesome guilty pleasure show, btw), I went back and checked email... after waking up at 7:30, by 10am.. I hadn't gone to the gym. I finally talked myself into it, and drug myself there. They say that 'getting to the gym is half the battle', but today, it was more like 95%. What happened next got Rob his groove back.

If someone told me that the secret to losing weight was breaking your diet, I would have punched them in the face. But, that's exactly what happened.. and if it wasn't, I'm still giving it credit.

After the 'cheat' meal two days ago, I skipped a workout and then did almost no workout yesterday, and then I went to the gym this morning and stepped on the scale. I actually went below the 330 barrier for the first time, and I was stunned. I wasn't expecting it, and I guess I just got used to seeing the 330 or higher. It was a good feeling.

I'm not going to get too high on it, because we've seen this many times before. We all know what it's like to be high on a number, and then see it go right back up the next day. But, looking at the five-day average, the average is EXACTLY 300.0, and the highest number (331.5) is coming off tomorrow, so I'm still headed in the right direction.

As usual, I'm analyzing the numbers. Since I weigh in officially on Monday, I need the 4 days before Monday to do the 5-day average. That would take me from Monday, back to Thursday's weigh. So far, I've got a 330 and a 328.5 to work with, and if I can continue in that downward trend, I may be pretty proud of myself on Monday.

Nothing's in the books yet, but hopefully I've turned the page on this rather long and frustrating chapter of the weight loss journey.

Time will tell.

SWEET! Man, I've been hearing so much about your 330 that even I was getting sick of it! ;-)

Keep it rolling, now. 330 fell, and 300 is next.

EXCELLENT job, bro! I haven't been able to check in on this much lately or post a comment, but I know it's a real buzzkill when you reach a plateau and can't get past it for awhile. But you stuck it out and din't give up, and now you're broken that barrier. Keep up the fantastic work! I'm going to be home for a 5 day weekend at the end of April, and I'm confident I'll be seeing a sub-300 Rob!

By the way...it wasn't breakin your diet that helped... it was giving your body a rest..I think.. that helped.

Sometimes, when we work out, it can wind your body so tight that it takes a couple of days to appreciate the benefits. Your body tightens up, and when it finally relaxes, well...you deficate..fully!

Sorry for the subject, but it 's not just what goes into the body, but how well the body expels what's not needed. Sometimes, your body needs the relaxation to catch up with your workout.

Not many people like to talk about the expulsion of food, but, (no pun intended) it's not just what you eat, but what you keep.

Ideally, and that's what they mean about eating before 6 pm, you want to process ALL your food by the following day. When you eat late, or binge on snacks beyond the "recommended time", you'll have that food with you the next day too, and your body will continue to extract from it.

Enough said..don't want to gross anybody out. Just have to go with what's obvious.

Hope some of your other bloggers can appreciate what i'm trying to convey. Diet is not just limiting "bad foods". It's removing the the opportunity for your body to extract foods into your bloodstream while you're sleeping.

The 6:00 pm deadline is essential.
(if your body's timeclock is in the AM)

Sometimes, it's harder than working out, but no less important.

I hate to disagree, but looking big picture our body loses weight strongly based on calories versus calories out. Many sources push the no late eating thing, but it isn't as crucial as many make it out to be. Giving his body the rest it needed was very important, but giving his body a break from the strict eating was just as important.
