On Target

Weigh In: 273.5
Five Day Average: 274.75

The weight is slowly starting to come off. January's been MUCH better to me (as I've been better to my body) than December, but I'm still taking off the same weight I've been taking off since August, so it's hard to get pumped up about it.

However, I did the first day of the Men's Health BellyOff! program today, and it was tougher than expected. Just by looking at the workout, I figured it'd be kind of easy for Week 1 and I'd warm up, but I was big time wrong. This is what the workout looked like for today - it changes every day, which I like, because doing the same thing for weeks on end gets old for me.

Those shoulder press pushups - especially for someone who weighs 273 pounds - were tough as hell. It's all about the form though, so I was able to get through them. By the end of the interval training, I was 100% totally spent. Couldn't even blink I was so sore. Success in my books :)

Eating has been dead nuts on, having a workout like that helps drive me towards the eating goals. Tomorrow is a cardio day, and then Wednesday I dive right in to the next workout of Week 1. I'm about halfway through with January, and my average is just about halfway to 270. I'm on target.

nothing but good news today! Nice work!

I gotta be honest with you, those handstand pushups are easier if you're actually in a handstand against the wall. For some reason, doing them off the bench doesn't help me much.

I think I'm a LONG way from doing full handstand pushups, but I think I might try just to say I did. I don't think I had 100% of my bodyweight on my shoulders and I'm STILL feeling it today.

Glad to see you're back on track and heading in the right direction Rob - I see the 260's in your near future - and then heading down from there.

See you again at 6 AM tomorrow at the gym? Knowing you will be there expecting me motivates me to get my butt out of bed!

We're ALL a long way from doing handstand pushups. Those are pretty much reserved for those with gymnast-level fitness. Those things you did looked pretty cool though, really glad you found a workout that works for you, I think having this is gonna make a BIG difference in your routine and motivation.

Good going, Tuck. I might be in a bit of trouble here, as I still need to lose about eighteen pounds to hit one ten. Oh, well. May the best man win!!

A preamble: I'm not terribly nice, so apologies for this sounding meaner than I intend it to.

Sometimes I hate reading your blog. Those times seem all to be in the past. I was so over the whiny "why aren't I seeing weight come off?" posts. And the stuffing cereal down your gullet posts. I was even over the "I've found my new motivation and this time it's for real!" posts.

This doesn't feel like those. This feels like an actual assessment of what needs to be done, and a guy going out and doing it. Very very glad to read it, Roberto.
